Mr Richard O. Byles, BSc, MSc.
Chairperson

Mr Byles is the Chairman of Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited. Under his leadership the Group has evolved through a series of acquisitions, the most recent being the purchase of the banking operations of RBC Jamaica.

Prior to his tenure at Sagicor Group, Mr Byles was the President and CEO of Pan Jamaican Investment Trust Limited (Pan Jam) where he steered that group through a number of mergers, acquisitions and divestments. He successfully led Pan Jam’s largest subsidiary; First Life Insurance Company Limited, through the financial crisis in the 1990’s. He remains a Director of Pan Jam.

Mr Byles is also Board Chairman of the Sagicor Real Estate X-Fund and Desnoes and Geddes Limited, brewers of Red Stripe Beer as well as a Director of Sagicor Investments Jamaica Limited, Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited, Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited. He is a Vice President of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica and Co-chairman of Jamaica’s Economic Programme Oversight Committee (EPOC), which has oversight responsibility for the implementation of the current IMF Agreement with the Government of Jamaica. 

Mr Byles holds a BSc. in Economics from the University of the West Indies and a MSc. in National Development from the University of Bradford, England.

 

Dr Dodridge D. Miller, FCCA, MBA, LLM
Director

Dr. Dodridge Miller is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Sagicor Financial Corporation (SFC) since July 1, 2002. He is Chairman and a Director of many subsidiaries within the Sagicor group such as Sagicor Group Jamaica limited, Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited, Sagicor Investments Limited and Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited.

 He is a UK trained Chartered Certified Accountant who holds a MBA in Finance and a Masters in Corporate and Commercial Law from the University of the West Indies. He is also a Director of Cable & Wireless (Barbados) Limited.

 

Mr Paul A.B. Facey, B.Sc., MBA
Director

Mr Paul Facey is Vice President-Investments at Pan-Jamaican Investment Trust Limited.  He has a wide range of experience in banking, investment, manufacturing, retail and distribution. He is a Director of Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited, Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited and Sagicor Investments Jamaica Limited

He holds a B.Sc. in Marketing and Management at the University of South Florida and a MBA in Finance from Florida International Business School.

 

Mr Peter K. Melhado BSc, MBA
Director

Mr Melhado is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the ICD Group and Chairman of Sagicor Investments Jamaica Limited, a local conglomerate with interests in real estate, construction, property management, general insurance and business process outsourcing, brings a wealth of experience to these new roles.

With a proven track record in the financial services industry from 1993, Mr Melhado held the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Manufacturers Group and led the acquisition of Sigma Investment Managers in 2001, resulting in the formation of Manufacturers Sigma. He remained in that position until the merger of Manufacturers Sigma and Pan Caribbean in 2004.

He is on the Board of Directors of Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited, Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited and Sagicor Investments Jamaica Limited. 

He is a former Vice President of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica and serves as a Chairman of Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited. Mr Melhado attained a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University and an MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business, with a major in Finance.

 

Mrs Lisa A. Soares Lewis BSc (Hons.), MBA (Dist) SPHR
Director

Mrs Lewis is HR Director at Redstripe (DIAGEO). She is an experienced business executive in Human Resources Management, Banking and General Management Consulting. Lisa is a Director of Desnoes & Geddes Limited and has served as a board member and Pension Plan Trustee in the public and private sectors. She is a former Vice President of the Jamaica Employers' Federation and Private Sector Organization of Jamaica. 

 

Mr Colin Steele BBA, CPA, MBA
Director

Mr Steele is an entrepreneur in the retail business and a housing developer who began his career as a Certified Public Accountant. He is experienced in lending, capital markets and investment banking. Colin has served as a Director of several Government companies including the Port Authority of Jamaica and the University Hospital of the West Indies. He also served as Chairman of the Economic Policy Committee of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica. 

 

Donovan H. Perkins BA (Hons.), MB
Director

Mr Perkins has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited as well as Board Member of Sagicor Investment s Jamaica Limited. He has extensive experience in the financial services industry, both locally and in the United States. 

He previously held the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of Sagicor Investments Jamaica Limited (since 1993) and was responsible for the company's overall direction and operations. He has led the company through a number of mergers and acquisitions, resulting in the formation of a strong and diversified financial services group.

 He remains a director of Sagicor Investments Jamaica Limited. Mr Perkins is a Board Member of Pan Jamaican Investments Trust Limited and the Jamaica Producers Group. He is also Chairman of the Jamaica Stock Exchange and Tourism Linkages Council. He previously served in the public sector as Deputy Chairman of the National Water Commission as well as Director of the National Insurance Fund and Jamaica Social Investment Fund.

He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Finance (Hons.) from the University of South Florida and an MBA in Finance and Marketing from The Daren School at The University of Virginia.

 

Philip W. Armstrong, BSc
Acting President and CEO, Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited

Mr Armstrong is the Acting President and CEO of Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited. He joined the group in 2004 from Citibank locally where he was Resident Vice President. An engineer by training, Philip brings over 18 years of securities, derivatives and financial expertise gained from New York and Jamaica. Philip is a graduate of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and is currently the Treasurer of the Jamaica Bankers Association and a Director of British Caribbean Insurance Company.

 

Mr Bruce James
Bruce James – Director

Mr James has over 15 years of experience in banking and has held many senior positions at Citibank N.A. Jamaica Branch including Vice President in charge of Corporate Banking and Relationship Management. His expertise includes Risk Management and Analysis, marketing of Credit products, Relationship Management and Leadership. 

Bruce is the President and co-founder of the MVP Track and Field Club and Manager of the Wolmer's Boys' School Track Team. Bruce is a professional track and field analyst across various media, including television and radio. He is also an international motivational speaker.

 

Eric Scott FCCA, FCA, CPA, CIA, Vice President – Finance 

Mr. Scott is the Vice President, Accounting for Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited. He has extensive experience in financial services, financial accounting, external and internal auditing. Prior to this he served as Senior Audit Manager at RBC Financial Caribbean with responsibility for Jamaica, Bahamas and Cayman. Prior to this he serviced as the Chief Internal Auditor, RBC Bank (Jamaica) Limited.

Mr. Scott is also Council Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (ICAJ), Chairman of ICAJ’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Committee, Board Member at the Public Accountancy Board (PAB) and Vice Chairman of the Audit Committee for Ministry of Finance and Planning of the Government of Jamaica.

Mr. Scott is Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica, as well as a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He also holds the designations of Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).

Jeffery Chevannes BSc. Dip. Human Resources Management (ICB)

Vice President, Credit Risk

Mr. Chevannes currently manages the credit review undertakings of the Bank and is also responsible for problem recognition and the identification of key risk and emerging risk issues that may impact the bank’s portfolio.

Mr. Chevannes has spearheaded and delivered workshops on numerous new credit products and has consistently facilitated orientation of new team members. He has participated in the standardization of RBC Caribbean Credit Risk Framework providing invaluable insight for the Jamaica jurisdiction and led the roll-out and implementation of RBCs Enterprise Credit Risk policies; procedures management routines.

He has extensive knowledge of Loan Underwriting & Credit Adjudication Process for Corporate, Business & Retail Credit, Portfolio Monitoring, Problem Loan Management, Credit appraisal techniques, Change Management techniques, Coaching techniques and a good Overview of other Enterprise Risk Management philosophies, policies & procedures.

Mr. Chevannes holds a BSc in Management Studies from the University of the West Indies and a Diploma in Human Resources Management (ICB)

 

Sean A. Parris, B.Sc (Hons), M.Sc

Mr. Sean Parris is the Vice President of Operations of Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited. He has over 18 years experience in Banking in Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago. He has previously held leadership positions in Service Delivery and Information Technology. In his current role, Mr. Parris is responsible for implementing and managing the Bank Operation’s strategic and tactical plan to achieve operational efficiency across the organization while addressing current and anticipating future needs of our clients.

Mr. Parris is a graduate of the University of the West Indies with a first class honours degree in Mathematics and Computer Science and a Master of Science in Management Information Systems.


Sabrina Cooper, B.A. (Hons.)

Vice President – Vice President, Retail Banking 

Sabrina is charged with promoting and growing our commercial banking business across the retail, corporate and SME segments and building relationships with new and existing customers across the island. 

Her mandate also includes conducting continuous competitive surveys and analysis, in addition to recommending and implementing mitigating action plans. Sabrina develops sales targets, and strategies to ensure that budgeted financial goals are met. 

She has over 12 years of experience in Investments and Financial Services, including 5 years international experience gained at Prudential Financial in Coral Gables, Florida. A magna cum laude graduate of Florida International University, Sabrina earned her Bachelor's degree in Finance and International business.

 

Karl Williams, BSc, MBA

Mr Karl Williams is the Vice President of Human Resources. He has over 15 years’ experience in the Life Insurance Industry. He currently has responsibility for the all Human Resource functions and is an active member of several national business councils. 

Mr Williams’ mandate is to promote a high-performance culture by implementing strategies aligned with corporate objectives and that foster the development of a team that lives and values high performance. He is a highly trained and experienced management executive with over twenty (20) years of successful leadership and managerial responsibilities in Marketing & Sales, Training & Development and Human Resource Management. He is the Chairman of the Insurance Association of Jamaica (IAJ) Human Resource Committee and President of the Human Resource Management Association of Jamaica (HRMA).
Mr Williams started with Island Life Insurance Company as a life insurance agent and proceeded to hold posts as Training Manager and Director of Marketing, before being appointed AVP Corporate Marketing and ultimately VP Human Resources at Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited.

Mr Williams is a graduate of the University of the West Indies and Florida International University.

 

Andrea Chung, B.Sc. (Hons), M.Sc.

Assistant Vice President - Group Project Management, Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited

Andrea holds responsibility for the company's Project Management Unit which manages the implementation of all projects within the Banking Group.  

Andrea joined the Company through the then Manufacturers Sigma Merchant Bank in 2002, and over the twelve years with the Group has worked in various areas including Sales and Investments, Projects & Strategic Planning and Information Technology.

 

Hope M. Wint, B.Sc., C.F.A., F.R.M.

Vice President, Group ERM & Compliance - Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited

Hope's mandate is to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, policies and standards to minimize inherent operational risks and ensures compliance with the relevant provisions of the regulators. Over the last 18 years, Hope has honed her expertise in Treasury, Asset Management, Risk Management and Compliance. She is a member of the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists, CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Trinidad & Tobago and Global Association of Risk Professionals.
